This two day program is designed for officers involved in homicide, suicide, and death investigations. Examinations of death scenes and the facilities of the Robert J. Stein Forensic Institute will be explored. Course topics include: - Suspicious deaths - Crime scene protection - Suicides v Homicides: recognizing differences - Autoerotic cases - Wound analysis - Disaster response recovery and identification - The use of D.N.A. in identification - Rules of evidence Forensic odontology will also be briefly reviewed during this program. SB3491 amends the Illinois Police Training Act and requires the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board to conduct or approve a training program in sudden death or homicide investigation for the training of law enforcement officers of local government agencies. This course, when considered alongside other relevant training, MAY satisfy Lead Homicide Investigator waiver requirements set forth by the ILETSB. This program will be submitted to the ILETSB to satisfy requirements of SB3491. Please contact NEMRT with additional questions. This course has been submitted to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board for funding under the Death Investigation Grant Program. IF FUNDING IS NOT AVAILABLE, TUITION MAY BE CHARGED (when a member or non-member tution is listed) OR THE COURSE MAY BE CANCELLED. For courses that are conducted, cancellations must be received by NEMRT 35 days prior to the start of class in order to avoid being billed. PLEASE NOTE: PARKING AT THE COOK COUNTY MEDICAL EXAMINER'S FACILITY IS AT A PREMIUM! We have arranged for parking just to the south of the facility on Leavitt St. The parking lot is south of Harrison, past the Medical Examiner's lot, on the east side of the street. There is a kiosk there and the chain blocking the lot should be down. Entry to the facility is through the intake department at the west end of the building which faces Leavitt. Just tell the attendant that you are there for the seminar with Sgt. Schak and you will be directed to the lower level conference room.
