This two day program, formerly known as "Liability Issues for Firearms Instructors," will provide students with opportunities to review, revise, and improve firearms proficiency training for their respective agencies. As departments expand their programs to include transitional and advanced firearms use, firearms instructors need to examine strategies and tactics in light of laws pertaining to training liability, deadly force, and officer safety. Course topics include: - Handgun safety rules and guidelines for training - Review of shooting fundamentals - Examining types of training - Quality of training - Types of weapons and ammunition used - Requalification frequency - Scoring systems Students must bring their duty belts and handguns, eye and ear protection, and 200 total rounds of ammo to class. In addition, students MUST wear shirts with tight-fitting necks and baseball-type caps with bills to prevent hot brass from entering their clothing or falling behind protective eyewear. **Cancellations for this program must be received by NEMRT 7 days prior to the start of class in order to avoid being billed.
