Liability considerations will be emphasized. Course topics include: - Defining the police role - Current Illinois statutes - Defining domestic violence - Offender and victim profiles, myths, characteristics, and intervention techniques - Risk and lethality assessment - Changes in the IDVA and stalking laws - On-scene investigation - Specific areas of liability - Officer safety
