This Distance Learning web-based training program has been designed by NEMRT, along with experts from the fields of juvenile law, social work, and law enforcement, to provide newly-assigned or promoted juvenile officers with the skills, knowledge, and behaviors needed for success in the position. Juvenile officers have a unique role, not only in enforcing laws but also in responding to family problems in a compassionate and effective manner. Their position requires them to act as protectors of youths and society as a whole by investigating criminal acts for findings of "delinquency and in supporting youths in growing out of adolescence" without experiencing the stigma of police involvement. Officers who take this web-based course and pass the examination given at the end of the mandatory review session will be Illinois state-certified Juvenile Officers - just as if they had attended a traditional classroom training course. You may register your officer for an examination date and time as you would for any NEMRT course. Registrations can be submitted via fax or made on-line at www.nemrt.com. Please note: Access to the web program must be purchased prior to examinations being taken.
