Many of today's investigations require telephone and internet records and information in some capacity. From homicide cases to harassment cases these records and information are often critical to the success of the criminal case. This course is essential for new investigators or investigators that need to know more about telephone and internet records and how they affect their cases. This course is designed for the investigator who desires more knowledge about what is available from communication and telephone service providers, how to properly request the information needed as well as the basics of analyzing and presenting information obtained. This is a fast paced course that will utilize several real world practicals. This is an investigative course and attendees should bring a removable storage device and laptop computer if available. This course is taught by Investigator Dennis Carroll, Wisconsin Attorney General's office. This course is relatively fast paced. It is not recommended for patrol officers who have little familiarity with these types of investigations and do nothing with phone records. Please bring a large map ( @ 25-30" wide, 40" long) of your jurisdiction for GPS plotting. You can contact your GIS department at your municipality to get one.
