*******SCROLL DOWN FOR REQUIRED EQUIPMENT************ This intensive one day course builds on Level I skills to enhance an officer's survivability through the use of effective close quarter shooting skills and defensive tactics. Justifiable force options will be discussed on the range by an experienced Use of Force attorney. While core skill development will be practiced, emphasis will be placed on the following: - High stress marksmanship and weapons handling - Movement off line of force - Cover and concealment shooting methods and positions - Multiple offender engagement - Opposite hand shooting skills As a prerequisite, officers MUST HAVE ATTENDED N.E.M.R.T.'s Close Quarter Handgun Skills course, (but not earned the Strike Level I certificate) or Strike Level I course. Topics addressed will continue to be: - Range safety and developing a survival mindset - Review of "Shield Technique" - Verbal skills development - Overcoming distractions - Multiple shot placement - Stoppage reduction and failure to stop drills - Magazine changes - Single / multiple aggressor engagement from different angles of attack STUDENTS MUST BRING THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT TO CLASS: - 500 rounds of ammunition - Hat with bill to protect face from brass ejections - Eye protection - Knee pads for ground kneeling shooting positions - Pencil/pen and notebook - Duty leather and pistol - Soft body armor - Comfortable clothing and boots; NO SHORTS (fatigues/BDUs suggested) NOTE: Students will participate in multiple tactical exercises and can expect to get dirty. - Water/Sports Drinks for hydration during tactical exercises - A packed lunch Certificates of participation will be given to all attending. Those who qualify on a ten round, 24 second course of fire will also be awarded a Strike Tactical Level III qualification certificate.
