This course will provide refresher training for police honor guards providing gun salutes and burial details at funerals and/or wakes. Students will participate in detailed practice drills focusing on the following skills: - Rifle manual review, including position of attention, port arms, present arms, parade rest, ceremonial parade rest, right shoulder arms, and left shoulder arms - Flag protocol, including draping of the colors on a casket, flag folding demonstration and practice, and presentation to next of kin - Burial detail review, including posting and relieving details at wakes, pallbearer duties, and marching with a casket - Gun salute and demonstration, including live fire salutes with blank ammunition - Sword manual review Students are encouraged to bring their own drill equipment to class, including flags, harnesses, rifles, and swords. This course has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board and is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
