This program has been designed to teach all law enforcement officers, regardless of prior computer knowledge, how cyber terrorists/criminals utilize the internet in the commission of crimes. Through the use of multi-media presentations, hands-on exercises completed in SLEA's mobile computer lab, and real time online examples, students will examine the following topics: - What constitutes cyber terrorism - Different forms of cyber terrorism - Where cyber evidence may be obtained - Personal and infrastructure vulnerabilities - Hacking/cracking/intrusion methods - Attack software - Methods for hiding in the web - How to recognize a cyber crime scene - Protecting yourself and others from cyber attack - How easily social security numbers and other personal identifiers are obtained - How social engineering and data mining for information is accomplished - Recognizing various methods used to terrorize, stalk, and harass victims using electronic media - Methods for protecting yourself and the public from victimization - Techniques for verifying what personal information of yours is already online - Basic procedures for investigating these types of crimes - Preparing a computer crime case --Cancellations for this program must be received by NEMRT 35 days prior to the start of class in order to avoid being billed.
