This one day, 8 hour course has been designed by North East Multi-Regional Training, Inc., and an IPMBA-certified Police Bike Instructor to provide students with the skills needed to perform limited bike repairs and conduct pre-season tune-ups of police mountain bikes. This course enables law enforcement agencies to staff officers with the tools, skills, and knowledge needed to perform routine basic maintenance and repairs to police mountain bikes, thus saving hundreds of dollars annually in expenses otherwise paid to bike repair shops. By the end of this program, students will be able to do the following: • Recognize and use accurate bike nomenclature • Change tires and tubes • Adjust and replace brake pads and cables • Replace and properly adjust gear shift cables • Clean and replace chains • Properly adjust their headsets • Conduct pre-ride safety checks • Ensure that they have proper fit on their bikes *Students are required to bring their department police mountain bike to class and must wear clothing appropriate for bike repair work, including safety glasses.
