FOCUS™ 8-hour Handgun Red Dot Optics End-User Course is a meticulously designed program that trains police officers in the application of red dot optics on handguns, focusing on the principles of safety, accuracy, and effectiveness. This one-day training is developed by Offset Tactical and is taught by an instructor with 20+ years of military experience in combat operations and firearms. All of our instructors come from SWAT or military backgrounds. This one-day course begins with an introduction to red dot optics, exploring different types of red dot sights, their functionalities, advantages, and limitations. The session also includes instructions on mounting and zeroing the red dot optics on a variety of handguns to ensure optimal performance. Transitioning from iron sights to red dot optics can be challenging. Thus, a key component of the course focuses on modifying grip, stance, and sight picture for effective red dot use. This includes acquiring the dot, tracking targets, and transitioning between targets. In addition to this, a new trigger pull process will be taught to students that will give them confidence and proficiency when shooting their firearms. The course emphasizes practical skills, with a significant portion of the day dedicated to live-fire drills. These exercises are designed to reinforce the brief classroom instruction that is covered, with drills focused on dot acquisition, target transitions, shooting on the move, and engaging multiple targets. Finally, we cover basic maintenance and troubleshooting for red dot optics. Students will learn to handle common optic malfunctions, maintain their equipment, and manage battery life for optimum performance. With the emerging importance of red-dot sight systems in tactical environments, understanding and mastering this technology is paramount. Requirements: - Any weapons brought to the training MUST already have the red-dot optic installed by a qualified armorer. - RDS Pistol with optic-height iron sights, Duty belt with CORRECT holster for gun, 3 magazines minimum. - 400 rounds of range ammo. - 10 "Dummy" rounds in the caliber of the shooter's gun. - Eye and Ear Protection. - Note taking material. To include a sharpie, to be carried on person. - Body Armor. *** Cancellations for this program must be received by NEMRT 35 days prior to the start of the program in order to avoid billing. ***
