This four hour program has been designed by International Scent Solutions, LLC, to meet the requirements of P.A. 97-0469 (50 ILCS 705/10.12) which mandates all police dogs used by State and local law enforcement agencies for drug enforcement purposes be certified in a set of standard skills determined by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. Through a series of hands-on practical field exercises utilizing different searching techniques, canine teams will detect varying quantities of marijuana, hashish, cocaine, heroin/opiate derivatives, and methamphetamines in a variety of locations, including: - Parcels/baggage - Buildings/rooms - Motor vehicles - Open area/perimeters In order to successfully complete the certification process, each canine must receive a 90% confirmed alert rate, with a false alert rate not to exceed 10%. PLEASE NOTE: Students are encouraged to bring their own narcotics for searches. If they do not have their own supply, I.S.S. will provide it for them. This course has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. It is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
