Best Practices for Seizing and Handling of Digital Evidence This training will help First Responder and Investigators to identify, collect and preserve digital evidence, including but not limited to mobile devices and associated media. Participants are exposed to the advanced tools and techniques used by the Chicago RCFL, so they can better understand what to expect from a forensics examination. Finally, participants will obtain an understanding of the required documentation for case submissions to the RCFL, examination review/results and the potential for testimony related to the seizure of any digital evidence. For First Responders and Investigators who have no (or very limited) digital forensics experience and who may come across digital evidence when responding to a crime scene. This course requires no prerequisites, but attendees should have a working knowledge of computers. The subject matter of this course falls within the key training guidelines for the in-service training requirements for Lead Homicide Investigator. PLEASE NOTE: Attending officers are required to go through a security check point and provide proper identification upon enter the building. The Regional Computer Forensics Lab asks that departments provide names of attendees when registering for this course. Additionally, there is no public parking at this location - however there is metered street parking and pay lots within close proximity to the Customs Building. This course has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
