This dynamic three-day course has been designed to further develop the investigative skills of officers assigned to drug cases. Students will receive in-depth training and participate in practical exercises that focus on all facets of drug investigations. Course topics include the following: - Advanced techniques for properly utilizing traffic stops to combat narcotics trafficking - Case law regarding traffic stops and subsequent vehicle searches - Utilizing on-line, open source social media to aid narcotic investigations - Successful utilization of consent searches - Advanced undercover techniques - Asset forfeiture and bank subpoenas/warrants Students wishing to attend this program should have already completed NEMRT's 40 Hour Basic Narcotics Investigation class or have career experience working narcotics cases. This course has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. It is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
