This one day, 8 hour class has been designed to provide students with the skills needed to effectively manage the field training process at their agencies, regardless of the model used. From selection of FTO's to the training of new officers, this course will cover the steps and controls necessary to ensure that the program is effective and legally defensible. Topics to be addressed include the following: -Why proper supervision and management of the field training process is important - The agency's responsibility to supervise the process -Management issues common to all field training programs, including selection, evaluation, retention, training, training failures, scheduling, and burnout -Management issues unique to Evaluative Programs, including DOR's, standards used, and reporting -Management issues unique to coaching and mentoring programs, including evaluation methods, review of training matrices, scheduling, and reporting This course has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. It is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
