Retirement planning is one of the most neglected aspects of an officer's career. As a result, many mid-career opportunities to meet retirement needs and accomplish financial dreams are overlooked. This course is designed for officers of all ranks who are between the ages of 48 and 63 and will assist them in developing a comprehensive retirement plan. Topics to be addressed include the following: - The psychology of retirement - Pension plan highlights and the long term viability of pensions in today's economic and political environments - Retirement plan distributions - Roth IRA and Roth IRA conversions - 457 Deferred Compensation and Roth 457 accounts - Post-retirement health care funding - Medicare supplements - Social Security, Windfall Elimination Provision, Government Pension Offset, and Social Security timing - Estate Planning, Wills and Trusts - Planning for long-term care - Protecting a spouse's Pension COLA and leaving a lasting legacy for heirs This course has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
