This 16 Hour Instructor program is the successor to NEMRT's long running FATS III program and serves as a practical, hands-on introduction to the XVT System - the newest generation of interactive firearms simulators produced by MEGGITT Training Systems, Inc. The XVT System has been designed to provide law enforcement personnel with marksmanship and judgemental shooting training that utilizes Bluefire weapon technology. These fully wireless weapon systems generate recoil through the use of compressed air and provide students with exceptionally realistic, effective, and safe training experiences that incorporate newly-produced videos and numerous branching options. The first half of day one of this program will be devoted to a comprehensive review of legal issues related to the use of force, including standards provided by Supreme and Appellate Court decisions. During the second half of day one and all of day two, students will be trained in the set up and operation of an XVT System and the performance of basic troubleshooting and maintenance procedures. By the end of this program, students will be able to do the following: - Conduct basic to advanced marksmanship training in a range-like training environment - Closely monitor nuances in trainee weapon handing through system feedback capabilities - Evaluate trainee performance on "Shoot/Don't Shoot" scenarios and corresponding decision making processes - Provide corrective feedback to trainees through active coaching - Train two officers simultaneously during team exercises - Alter the basic XVT training program to meet individual or departmental training needs through the use of lanes authoring options and scenario selection. PLEASE NOTE COURSE PREREQUISITE: Participants must have successfully completed NEMRT's 40 Hour Firearms Instructor Program, or an equivalent training course, prior to attending this class. Once a student has completed this Instructor program, his or her department is eligible to schedule an XVT System for in-house training purposes. Training or Range Officers should contact Training Coordinator Michael Schoenfeld at (630) 896-8860, ext. 119 to request dates. This course has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
