This course is designed for officers with little DUI enforcement experience. It will provide students with a thorough orientation to the DUI process by addressing critical aspects of their initial observations, sobriety testing, arrest protocol, report writing, and court testimony. Common areas of confusion and error will be discussed. Course topics include: - The body's response to alcohol - Illinois law for DUI - Establishing probable cause using visual clues - Making vehicle stops - Field observations and interviews - Arrest and transportation standards - Writing DUI reports - Accident scene considerations - Drawing blood and urine - Private property This course has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
