This 32 hour course is designed to teach necessary skills and techniques to officers who are or may be assigned to dignitary protection operations. The course addresses all facets of a protective operation, including planning, execution and debriefing phases. Special attention is given to the safe management of any operation. It is strongly recommended that registrants have previously attended either the 8 hour or 16 hour NEMRT Dignitary Protection classes. The course consists of a dynamic multi-media classroom, followed by a series of hands-on practical exercises which allow the participant to actively experience the concepts presented. Topics to be covered: * Protective advance * Intelligence * Close protection concepts * Transportation * Location Participants are given the opportunity to apply the lessons learned in realistic, scenario-based training operations. Upon completion, students will be able to: - Participate in small to large scale protective operations - Conduct an effective protective advance - Demonstrate various foot formations and methods for clearing obstacles - Demonstrate proper communications techniques - Plan and implement a protective movement - Describe common elements of an attack DEPARTMENTS ARE ASKED TO PROVIDE THEIR LARGER VEHICLE (i.e. 4 x 4'S, AND 4-DOOR VEHICLES, IF AVAILABLE) FOR CLASSROOM AND FIELD EXERCISES. This course will be taught by John Mack and Jeff Padilla. This course has been approved for Terrorism Task Force grant funding through the Executive Institute of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. This course has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. It is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
