This two day course provides the latest methods to prevent, track, and eradicate gangs in the rural and suburban community. Recruitment of younger children, illicit guns, narcotics and money will be addressed. Gang migration to the suburbs has been stimulated by a number of urban realities: Section 8 Housing teardowns, more effective enforcement actions by major cities (including Chicago), and long term federal wiretaps. Topics to be addressed include: - Community-wide gang suppression tactics - Effective street interviewing techniques - Courtroom testimony and case preparation - Identification of comprehensive prevention and interdiction resources - Extremist groups and causes Those attending will be provided with a 80 page resource document to assist them in adopting strategies to assist in mustering community resources. This course has been submitted for Terrorism Task Force grant funding through the Executive Institute of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. If approved, tuition will be waived.
