This one day, 8-hour, program has been designed by Chris Weinbrenner of the Addison Police Department. The course is meant as a guide to law enforcement officers to create awareness of financial health. Though the basic concepts of financial success seem like common sense, why is it we continue to struggle, add stress to our lives and allow finances to have our relationships suffer? Officer Wellness has become an important focal point for the law enforcement profession and its influence on the individual officer and their families. This highly interactive program will enable officers to better incorporate financial success into their lives, which will hopefully reduce stress with officers and their loved ones. This program will focus on three stages of money management: financial foundation, financial stability and building wealth. This course will provide practical steps for the application of financial planning, both short-term and long-term. Topics to be addressed include: • What is financial health? • Understanding your own finances. • Guidance with financial decisions. • Needs vs. Wants. • What is financial stability? • Retirement from law enforcement • Building wealth • Power of compound interest • Other types of investments • Financial prioritization Throughout the entire course, exercises are presented to the students to evaluate themselves and to build a financial plans which works for them. By the end of this program, students will be able to incorporate the basic principles of financial health into their daily lives.
