This one day, 8 hour program has been designed by the North East Multi-Regional Training, Inc., to assist local, county, State and federal law enforcement personnel who have previously been assigned to bicycle patrol. It is anticipated that these officers will have a working knowledge of bicycle patrol and need only a refresher course to prepare them to perform satisfactorily in this role. This course has been developed and designed for law enforcement personnel who have had prior training and experience with the police mountain bicycle. While a portion of the instruction will focus on advanced bicycle handling drills, much of the instruction will focus on the basic skills in order to reinforce the individual on the use of this valuable tool. The goals of this program are to enhance the bicycle handling skills of the student and updating the student on new skills and philosophies associated with the use of the bicycle as an enforcement tool. Students must bring a police mountain bike, helmet, riding accessories, and appropriate duty uniform/gear for conducting bike patrols. Students will ride extensively during this course.
