This four (4) day, thirty-two hour training program has been designed by North East Multi-Regional Training and the International Police Mountain Bike Association to assist law enforcement personnel in making the transition from motorized to bicycle patrol.

The goals of this 32 hour program are to:
	*	Instill within the students a current understanding of the advantages an
		officer on a bicycle has while interacting with the public. 
	*	Provide the student officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to
		safety and effectively utilize the bicycle as an enforcement tool. 
	*	Identify the responsibility of the student officer to serve as a role model
		for the entire community.
	*	Provide the students with the motivation to develop and/or implement
		various community projects which are unique to bicycle officers.
	*	Encourage the utilization of police on bicycles to enhance other strategies
		introduced to support Community or Problem Oriented Policing.

Students will need the following items for this course:

*Police Mountain Bike in good working order (properly fitted)
*Street/combo tires on bike
*pedal retention (acceptable flat pedal/footwear system)
*at least one water bottle cage and bottle
*High intensity headlight w/ 4hr run time
*LED steady or flashing red taillight
*Rear mount kickstand
*Agency-mandated carrying system (rack, bag, frame pack, etc.)
*Tool kit (patch kit, tire levers, two spare tubes, air pump or CO2 inflator, Allen wrenches (4-8mm), wrenches(8-10mm), bike lube, shop towels, disposable gloves)
*Full duty uniform 
*Padded cycling shorts (recommended)
*footwear compatible with retention system
*foul weather gear
*Agency mandated duty belt and vest with required gear
*Safety Equip. (Bike helmet, Eye pro, padded cycling gloves)
