The phenomenon of the school shooter in our schools is at an all-time high.  With the advent of depression, bullying and suicidal tendencies as a result, first responders in our schools and police departments must be trained to handle these situations with immediacy and great sensitivity. The goal M UST be to identify and intercept the criminal activity before the school shooter is able to take action. There are times when a student presents an incident of rage and a wanton disregard for human life by conspiring to make themselves famous through death and destruction. However, many students, school administrators and/ or LEO minimizes the comments and postings of the school shooter.  We often train our youth “If you see something, say something.”  It is what Schools and Law Enforcement do with that information that may predict the outcome.

 The reason why LEO’s and School Officials continue to “brush off” the student is due to the lack of training and understanding of Social Media and Internet Investigations. This class will train the School administration and Law Enforcement on the protocols set forth in dealing with this type of school violence.

The goal of this training is to empower school administrators and Law Enforcement how to gather digital evidence against the aggressor so they may find out who the perpetrator is and take action immediately after the comment or posting is made by the aggressor. The LEO and/or School Administrator will learn the fundamentals of investigating social media and internet related crimes that deal with domestic terrorism. We will use the Electronics Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) to our advantage in identifying the person responsible for posting the online threats BEFORE the shooter has the opportunity to kill our children.
