This 16 hour course offers instruction in defensive tactics for patrol officers through the categorization of the resistance offered by a suspect and an officer's response options. Hands-on training, with participants practicing techniques, is a major part of the program. Topics to be addressed include: - Pressure point control - Joint manipulation - Handcuffing from standing, kneeling, and take-down positions - Proper stances - Response to violent acts Participants are to wear proper clothing for working out and are to bring their duty weapon, handcuffs, and leather with them to class. This course has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards board and is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
