This three day, 24-hour course will provide law enforcement professionals with a detailed overview of the concepts and techniques necessary to successfully provide physical security functions in government facilities. This overview is provided through the mechanism of the Physical Security Assessment Survey (the "Survey"), the starting point of any successful program. The course addresses all facets of the Survey, including pre-planning, execution, and reporting phases and will also cover the detection of Hostile Surveillance targeting the facility as well as the design build process associated with most public sector projects. Students will be provided with dynamic, multi-media classroom presentations followed by a hands-on practical exercise that allows participants to actively experience the concepts presented. Topics to be addressed include hazards, threats, vulnerabilities, consequence, risk, and counter-measures. Also covered is the Assessment process from beginning to final outputs. Participants will then be given the opportunity to apply the lessons learned in a realistic scenario-based training experience which will reinforce the classroom topics covered. This class has been submitted for Terrorism Task Force grant funding through the Executive Institute of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. If funding is approved, tuition fee will be waived. **Cancellations for this program must be received by NEMRT 35 days prior to the start of class in order to avoid being billed.
