Use Of Force
This course will give students an introduction to utilizing a red dot equipped pistol. Through discussion and practical range exercises officers will gain the ability to properly and effectively utilize a red dot equipped pistol as a patrol officer. Topics covered include; zeroing pistol optic, draw and presentation, moving and shooting, RDS optic mitigation issues and dot “tracking”. Discussion will be had on use of force and how RDS pistols can enhance officer awareness which will be demonstrated through shoot, no-shoot drills. Officers will walk away with a level of proficiency using a red dot equipped pistol having passed the state pistol qualification and completing various RDS pistol drills. Students will need the following: Red dot equipped pistol 3 total magazines Duty rig or outside the waistband holster. NO SERPA HOLSTERS. Ability to have spare magazines on person 400 rounds ammunition Eye and hearing protection Note taking material This program has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. It is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
