Sig Sauer P320 - Prohibited in NEMRT Training/Activities

To our Instructors, Members, and Students:

At NEMRT, our unwavering commitment is to provide the safest and most effective training environment possible. The safety of our students and instructors is, and always will be, our paramount concern.

In light of ongoing discussions and an ever-growing body of information regarding reported safety concerns surrounding the Sig Sauer P320 pistol, we have undertaken a thorough review of our policies concerning its use in our courses. We are aware that a number of law enforcement and even military organizations have recently decided to restrict or ban the P320 from their programs due to these concerns.

After careful consideration of the available data, including various reports of unintentional discharges and the experiences shared within the professional firearm community, consultation with many of our firearms instructors, as well as recent litigation finding Sig Sauer negligently designed the P320, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to prohibit the use of the Sig Sauer P320 pistol in all NEMRT training courses and activities, effective immediately.

We understand that some of our students own and are proficient with the Sig Sauer P320. However, our responsibility to ensure the highest level of safety for all participants necessitates this proactive measure. We believe that eliminating any potential, even if rare, safety risks associated with equipment allows us to maintain the integrity of our training and focus entirely on skill development in the safest environment possible.

What This Means for Our Students:

Effective immediately, students will no longer be permitted to bring or use Sig Sauer P320 pistols in any NEMRT training course. We hope Sig Sauer works to find a permanent solution, and when they do, we will consider allowing the P320 in our classes again.

All students who own a Sig Sauer P320 and plan to attend our courses must make arrangements to bring an alternative firearm.

If you have any questions or require guidance on suitable alternative firearms for our courses, please do not hesitate to contact us prior to your scheduled training.

We understand this may cause an inconvenience for some, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption. We firmly believe this decision is in the best interest of our collective safety and upholds the high standards of safe firearm training that NEMRT is known for.

We appreciate your understanding and continued trust in NEMRT, and the high-quality training we strive to deliver every day. We remain dedicated to equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary for responsible and safe firearm use.”
