By recognizing predictors for and signs of substance abuse, today’s J.O. will be better equipped to assist youths in the grip of addiction or use behaviors. Efforts which prevent access to drugs and alcohol by the underaged will sow future rewards such as lower juvenile crime rates and decreased incidences of accidental injury, deaths, and suicides.
