UNIT IV - ADDICTED MINORS (ARTICLE 4 - 705 ILCS 405/4)

A. Addicted Minors (705 ILCS 405/4-3): Any minor who is an addict or an alcoholic as defined in the Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse and Dependency Act (20 ILCS 301/1) will be considered an Addicted Minor.

B. A Law Enforcement Officer may take a minor under 21 years of age into temporary custody, without a warrant, if:

1. The officer believes, with reasonable cause, that the minor is an addicted minor.


2. The minor has been adjudged a ward of the court and has escaped any commitment ordered by the court under this Act.


3. The minor is found in any public street or place and is suffering from any sickness or injury requiring medical care.
