Element #3 – A Crisis or Triggering Event. The third element in an abuse situation is the crisis or event that triggers the violence. If investigators can determine what set a parent off, then they will know what tack to take to obtain a confession. Parents often overreact to crises, so it is advisable to discover what was happening in the household prior to the abuse occurring.
