Child Physical Abuse
If a child’s age and developmental stage is incompatible with the reported mechanics of an injury, be suspicious. If a parent reports that a two month old baby broke his arm after pulling himself up and climbing out of a crib, someone is clearly lying.
If a parent uses particularly strong negative language to describe her child, be suspicious. Adults who speak harshly about their own children or who call them names such as “evil” or “no good” may be doing more than just verbally abusing them.
If a parent dresses a child in clothing that is too large in an effort to hide signs of abuse, be suspicious.
