Child Physical Abuse

Conclusion: Juvenile officers must remember that physical child abuse is usually not a one time event. Rather, it is serial in nature. By the time a child is injured severely enough to require medical care, the abuse has been happening for some time. Juvenile officers are the individuals most likely to be called upon to intervene in abusive families. They will determine if these situations require reporting to D.C.F.S. by objectively examining the facts and by making value judgments based upon professional experience, training, and intuition.
