Child Sexual Abuse
It is important to remember two key points:
- Not all pedophiles are child molesters. There are pedophiles who will not act on their preference and never do sexually abuse a child. Rather, they will engage in legal behaviors that satisfy their sexual urges, such as private masturbation, having sex with adults who look like children, and through fantasy play with adult prostitutes.
- Not all child molesters are pedophiles. Though they have sexually abused children, there are subgroups of molesters who are not considered pedophiles because their natural sexual preference is not children.
