Child Sexual Abuse
2. Pre-Puberty – 1st through 5th Grades:
- Children at this age know that sex abuse is wrong because of the way it has been forced on them or secrecy has been imposed by the abuser.
- This group will begin to get information about sexuality from outside sources, such as their friends, the media, and school.
- A child this age who is being sexually abused may think that inappropriate behavior is the norm until they begin to attend school regularly and learn that not all children have sex with their fathers or uncles.
- These kids can usually place themselves in time and space contexts.
