11. Legal Custody (9): The relationship created by an order of the court in the best interests of the minor which imposes on the custodian the responsibility of physical possession of a minor and the duty to protect, train, and discipline him and to provide him with food, shelter, education, ordinary medical care, except as these are limited by residual parental rights and responsibilities and the rights and responsibilities of the guardian of the person, if any. Legal Custody is usually short term.

12. Minor (10): Any person under the age of 21 subject to the Illinois Juvenile Court Act.

13. Parent (11): The mother or father of a child, including any adoptive parents.

14. Permanency Goal (11.1): A goal set by the court, as defined in subsections 2-28. In summary, when a minor is before the court, the agency assigned to care for and monitor the minor must have a goal in the placement of the minor. This goal is addressed in the Permanency Hearing.
