Article V, Part VII - Proceedings after trial, sentencing (705 ILCS 405/Article 5, Part 7)
C. Kinds of sentencing orders (705 ILCS 405/5-710):The following kinds of sentencing orders may be made regarding a ward of the court, or a minor who has been found guilty under Section 5-620. Such a minor may be:
- Placed on probation or conditional discharge.
- Placed on probation or conditional discharge and released to his or her parents.
- Ordered to undergo a substance abuse assessment.
- Placed in a detention center for a period not to exceed 30 days, as long as the minor is at least 10 years of age and above.
- Ordered partially or completely emancipated.
- Subject to having his or her driver�s license suspended
- Put on probation or conditional discharge and detained for a period not to exceed the period of incarceration or probation permitted by law for adults found guilty of the same offense(s).
- Ordered to undergo tattoo removal.
- Ordered to undergo assessment counseling or attend substance abuse programs.
- Ordered to provide restitution to victims.
Remember, a minor found guilty must be at least 13 years of age or older in order to be committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice (old term is the Department of Corrections). Any period of time a minor spends in custody prior to being released upon request of a parent is considered as time spent in detention.
